The South American Bakery

Duration: 3 hoursType: In-PersonPrice: $140

Pamela Arriagada grew up in Chile, has traveled around South America, and holds fond memories of walking through the streets in Santiago and Buenos Aires and smelling freshly baked breads, cakes, and cookies coming out of bakery ovens. And while each country has its own baking and pastry traditions, they have much in common as well. In this class Pamela will take you on a tour of her favorite South American sweet treats as she teaches you to make alfajores de maicena, tender shortbread cookies sandwiched with dulce de leche and raspberry jam; brazo de reina de tres leches, fluffy sponge cake rolled and filled with lúcuma-flavored dulce de leche; and trenza dulce de membrillo y crema, a braided sweet brioche topped with pastry cream and quince paste.
