Long before K-pop and Squid Game, Seoul street food put South Korea on the cultural map. Dating back centuries, Korean street food increased in popularity post Korean War as a way to serve up hearty fare to underserved refugees. Now, both locals and tourists alike navigate street side vendors to taste a variety of traditional bites, and Seoul native Jee Hye Kang is here to teach you how to recreate her childhood favorites in your own kitchen. We’ll learn how to make kimbap (깁밥) prepared with traditional fillings of beef or mushrooms, fresh vegetables and herbs, pickles, fish cakes, krab sticks, and kimchi; along with Tteokbokki (떡볶이) two ways – one in a classic spicy sauce and rose tteokbokki (로제 떡볶이) made with a creamy, cheesy sauce – served with sweet potatoes, peppers, mushrooms, perilla leaves, eggs, and pickled radish.
Please note: While this menu includes beef, it can easily be left out for a pescatarian guest. If you’re vegetarian or gluten-free, you can use the drop-down menu on our events page to view the best classes to fit your needs. If a class you’re interested in doesn’t appear in that filtered view, please email us before registering and we’ll see if the class’s menu can be modified.
All class and event purchases at The Pantry are non-refundable. If you’re unable to attend, you are always welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend or family member.
We understand that plans can change. When possible, we are happy to offer a credit or a transfer to a future event if we are able to fill your spot from our waitlist. Because our classes are small and ingredient-driven, this is not guaranteed and depends on demand and timing. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event are not eligible for credit or transfer, as we are typically unable to fill those spots on short notice.
