Jee Hye Kang grew up in the bustling city of Seoul, South Korea, and still has fond memories of day trips to the mountains and picnicking with family. In her career she’s focused on intentionally creating community through food. Her work at the Ballard Food Bank has given her a strong belief in the power of food in nourishing the body and mind.
In her cooking Jee Hye is inspired by cuisines from all over the world, and is always looking for bold new flavors and ways to incorporate them into dishes. She also loves recreating favorite dishes from her childhood, as well as all the Korean family classics. Teaching these dishes to others deepens her connection with, and understanding of, Korean cuisine. Outside the kitchen Jee Hye loves spends countless hours crafting and writing snail mail, exploring the nooks and crannies of Seattle on foot, and discovering new sights and ingredients at local grocers and markets.
