Growing up in the bustling heart of Seoul, South Korea, Jee Hye Kang’s earliest memories center on sharing meals during family picnics in the mountains - where the food was always the highlight. Today, that belief in the power of food to unite people is the driving force of her career. Through her meaningful work as a Community Engagement Manager at the Ballard Food Bank, Jee Hye has seen firsthand how a thoughtful meal does more than just feed a community, nourishing both the body and the mind.

Throughout her decade of working in restaurants, she's discovered that her guiding forces are nourishment and connection - with a style that balances honoring her heritage and chasing bold flavors. While she draws constant inspiration from global cuisines, she always returns to the comforting Korean classics of her childhood. Teaching these dishes to others has become her favorite way to share her culture and the vibrant flavors of Korea - the land of the morning calm.

When she’s not cooking, you can find her wandering Seattle’s hidden corners on foot, hunting for the tastiest ingredients at local markets, or keeping the tradition of snail mail alive.
