A Pacific Northwest native, chef Joseph Bayley has made a career of connecting culture and people through food. Joe grew up in a Filipino American household where eating was both an event and a celebration, and even before leaving for college he was learning the basics of cooking (and dishwashing) at an Italian restaurant in Bellevue.
His culinary adventures led to cooking on yachts in Alaska and cruise ships in the Caribbean, and baking cookies for scientists at the South Pole. After years on the road, Joe pursued a formal culinary education at the French Culinary Institute in New York City. He went on to win Season 2 of the Food Network’s Chopped, and then set sail for San Sebastian, Spain for a stage at the Michelin-starred Kursaal. In 2014, Joe returned to the Pacific Northwest to be close to his family, and to start his own, and we’re happy to welcome him to the Pantry!
