With its origins residing within the bustling streets of Hanoi, bun dac biet - meaning a combination of different meats and toppings - is a popular Vietnamese street food staple. Join Soy Dara as she guides you through constructing your own bowl as you craft handmade bun tuoi (vermicelli rice noodles) and learn how to layer them with flavorful sides. You’ll make bò nướng lá lốt (grilled beef wrapped in wild betel leaf leaves); ga xao sa (lemongrass chicken); and tom rim (caramelized shrimp) along with cha gio (pork egg rolls). To complete the menu you’ll also make nuoc cham (fish sauce dressing) and do chua (pickled daikon and carrots).
Please note: some classes can be adjusted for students with dietary restrictions, but many cannot. If you’re vegetarian, pescatarian, or gluten-free, you can use the drop-down menu on our events page to view the best classes to fit your needs. If a class you’re interested in doesn’t appear in that filtered view, please email us before registering and we’ll see if the class’s menu can be modified.
All class and event purchases at The Pantry are non-refundable. If you’re unable to attend, you are always welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend or family member.
We understand that plans can change. When possible, we are happy to offer a credit or a transfer to a future event if we are able to fill your spot from our waitlist. Because our classes are small and ingredient-driven, this is not guaranteed and depends on demand and timing. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event are not eligible for credit or transfer, as we are typically unable to fill those spots on short notice.
