Sri Lanka may be a small dot on the world map, but it boasts some big flavors. Join Vindi Rathnayake and learn all about the world of hoppers - a crispy tuile-like bowl made from a fermented batter and designed to hold eggs, curries, chutneys, and just about anything else you can dream up. In this class you’ll learn how to make from-scratch appa (hoppers); biththara appa (hoppers with egg); seeni sambal (caramelized onion sambal); isso curry (prawn curry); pol sambal (coconut sambal); katta sambal (chili and onion chutney); and end on a sweet note with undu walalu (fried urad dal flour and coconut milk spirals soaked in warm cardamom and palm sugar syrup).

Please note: some classes can be adjusted for students with dietary restrictions, but many cannot. While our event purchases are nonrefundable, we are generally happy to give a credit for a future event when we can fill your spot. If you need to cancel, we will reach out to the waitlist. If we get any takers, we can then issue you a credit. The chances of finding a replacement are higher with as much advance notice as possible, so please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel.
