The world loves delicious fried dough, and Poland makes one of the tastiest stuffed doughnuts around – paczki. In anticipation of Lent, making paczki started as a way to empty the larders of any eggs, butter, sugar, and any other “forbidden” ingredients before Fat Thursday (yes…Thursday in Poland!). Luckily the rules have relaxed and paczki can now be found year round in Poland and other heavily Polish-populated areas. Join us in class where Marianna Stepniewski will teach you how to make classic paczki dough, and how to turn them into treats worthy of celebration. On the menu: raspberry-glazed paczki filled with raspberry rosehip jam; vanilla-glazed paczki filled with spiced plum butter; honey-roasted pear paczki; and citrus-glazed paczki with lemon poppyseed cream.
