Persian Winter Solstice

Duration: 3 hoursType: In-PersonPrice: $145

Rooted in ancient tradition, Shab-e Yalda honors the return of light and the hope that carries us through darkness. Join Omid Roustaei in celebrating Shab-e Yalda, the Persian winter solstice and the longest night of the year. We’ll explore the rituals, stories, and symbolism of this beloved celebration, including its vibrant table of pomegranates, watermelon, persimmons, nuts, and dried fruits. Through poetry and tradition, we’ll reflect on Yalda’s enduring message of hope, renewal, and the triumph of light. You’ll make salad anar-o khiar (pomegranate, mint, and cucumber salad with feta); aash-e anar (pomegranate soup with meatballs); morgh shekam por (saffron-glazed stuffed chicken with dried fruit and nuts); and sohan asali (saffron sesame brittle).

Cancellation Policy

All class and event purchases at The Pantry are non-refundable. If you’re unable to attend, you are always welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend or family member.

We understand that plans can change. When possible, we are happy to offer a credit or a transfer to a future event if we are able to fill your spot from our waitlist. Because our classes are small and ingredient-driven, this is not guaranteed and depends on demand and timing. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event are not eligible for credit or transfer, as we are typically unable to fill those spots on short notice.
