Oktoberfest may have started as a celebration for a royal marriage, but it has grown into an annual festival of food, beer, culture, and music that attracts a crowd from around the world. Join Laura Pyles in class as she shares with you the history and traditions of Oktoberfest, as she teaches you how to create some classic dishes at home. You’ll make soft pretzel bites with sharp cheddar beer cheese; crispy bratwurst sausages with sauerkraut, herbs, and honey mustard; sauerbraten, a sweet and sour beef roast with gingersnap gravy, celery root, parsnips, and carrots; and horseradish cucumber salad with dill and parsley. You’ll decorate your own lebkuchenherz (traditional gingerbread cookies) with cute and silly sayings, then and tie on a string to wear around your neck and snack on while enjoying your favorite Oktoberfest beer!
Please note: some classes can be adjusted for students with dietary restrictions, but many cannot. If you’re vegetarian, pescatarian, or gluten-free, you can use the drop-down menu on our events page to view the best classes to fit your needs. If a class you’re interested in doesn’t appear in that filtered view, please email us before registering and we’ll see if the class’s menu can be modified.
All class and event purchases at The Pantry are non-refundable. If you’re unable to attend, you are always welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend or family member.
We understand that plans can change. When possible, we are happy to offer a credit or a transfer to a future event if we are able to fill your spot from our waitlist. Because our classes are small and ingredient-driven, this is not guaranteed and depends on demand and timing. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event are not eligible for credit or transfer, as we are typically unable to fill those spots on short notice.
