With their location positioned so closely to the Arctic Circle, it’s no wonder that the concept of hygge is a defining characteristic of the Nordic countries. Since it doesn’t get cozier than baking during the colder months, pastry chef Marianna Stepniewski is sharing some of her favorite Nordic cookie recipes. You’ll learn how to make Swedish chokladsnittar (malted chocolate rye slices); Icelandic sörur (chocolate-dipped almond meringue cookies with blackcurrant cream); Finnish paparkakut (gingerbread cookies) with orange blossom royal icing; and Norwegian serinakaker (butter cookie sandwiches) with cloudberry jam filling and pearl sugar.
