Jewish Breads

Duration: 3½ hoursType: In-PersonPrice: $140

Shaped by centuries of festivals and holidays and a growing diaspora, the bakery is an essential part of Jewish cuisine. Drawing from centuries-old traditions (as well as some modern influences), Jonathan Silverberg, founder of Schmaltzy’s Deli, is here to share some of his favorite baked treats. In this class you’ll learn about the rise of the iconic Jewish-American bakery as he teaches you how to mix, shape, braid, and bake a variety of doughs at home. You’ll make classic braided challah; fresh-baked rye bread with tuna salad; potato, pastrami, and cheese knish with mustard; and apple, chocolate, and toffee babka.
