Japanese Tempura

Duration: 3 hoursType: In-PersonPrice: $145

First brought by Portuguese during the Muromachi era, the art of tempura has morphed from a simple fritter, a casual fast food to a fine dining experience in upscale restaurants learned under strict apprenticeship. Today Kanako Koizumi is here to show us how to bring tempura to the home kitchen - no apprenticeship needed! We’ll learn how to perfect our tempura batter and make an assorted tempura platter with shrimp, satsuma yam, kabocha squash, mushrooms, lotus root, and eggplant; and kakiage (fritters) with carrots, onions, and chrysanthemum greens; tentsuyu (tempura dipping sauce); tendon (rice bowls topped with tempura and sauce); and miso soup.

Cancellation Policy

All class and event purchases at The Pantry are non-refundable. If you’re unable to attend, you are always welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend or family member.

We understand that plans can change. When possible, we are happy to offer a credit or a transfer to a future event if we are able to fill your spot from our waitlist. Because our classes are small and ingredient-driven, this is not guaranteed and depends on demand and timing. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event are not eligible for credit or transfer, as we are typically unable to fill those spots on short notice.
