Field Trip: Natural Dyeing with Local Color Farm and Fiber

Duration: 4 hoursType: In-PersonPrice: $150

Curious about natural dyes? Then come spend the day with Emily Tzeng at Local Color Farm and Fiber, her working farm in the Puyallup Valley, and learn the basics of natural dyeing. We will begin the day harvesting dye plants from their dye plant field, and then spend the afternoon learning how to use them in a variety of ways. You’ll get an introduction to the process of using plant-based dyes on protein fibers, such as wool and silk, and discuss strategies for implementing your own dye garden. Come away with an eco-printed bandana, a fresh indigo-dyed silk scarf, or colorful kettle-dyed wool yarn.
