Part-time Instructor

The Pantry is looking to expand our offerings and is currently seeking new instructors to teach occasional culinary classes. We get excited about most everything, so if you have experience to add to our programming, we would love to hear from you! Please send a cover letter and resume to management@thepantryseattle.com. If you seem like a good fit, we’ll have you in for a more in-depth chat and cooking demo. Also, feel free to send questions along if you have them!

Day-to-Day Tasks:

- Develop topics, menus, recipes, and flows for all new classes.

- Support the training of new assistants and chefs to grow a team that is knowledgeable, capable, and exude the Pantry brand personality: fun, quirky, charming, & community-oriented. This involves exuding patience while sharing knowledge and giving respectful and professional feedback directly.

- Work with Ordering team to update quantities.

- Help set up before the event and clean up afterwards.

- Comply with all food safety, health and sanitation requirements.

Pay:

- $350 per class (8-hour shift)

- Medical benefits, commuter benefits, participation in a SIMPLE IRA self-directed retirement plan, and staff discounts for events and retail are available to all eligible employees.

Personality:

- We are looking for someone who is social, warm, and has strong communication skills. A highly organized person who can prioritize between multiple tasks in a busy work environment while still maintaining attention to detail. Someone who is comfortable solving problems without direct supervision.

Experience:

- Since the Pantry is a unique place, we don't expect you to have direct experience, but we do look to see a trajectory on a resume so we can see how the Pantry would be your perfect next job. The ideal candidate would have previous experience in the culinary field and must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
