West African Street Food: Suya

Duration: 3 hoursType: In-PersonPrice: $140

What calls to you the most when walking through your favorite market? For us, it’s always the food that’s cooking! There are few markets and streets where the smells of spices and grilled meat don’t permeate the air, and in Cameroon, suya (spiced skewered meats) is a treasured street food and taste of home. In this class, Tina Fahnbulleh will teach you how to make her version of the tightly guarded suya spices, a blend of chiles, peanuts, and ginger, that you’ll slather onto chicken and beef skewers before grilling them to perfection. And since one cannot live on delicious charred meats alone, you’ll make fried yams, spiced cabbage slaw, and Tina’s own twist on spicy pepper sauce to complete your feast.

Cancellation Policy

All class and event purchases at The Pantry are non-refundable. If you’re unable to attend, you are always welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend or family member.

We understand that plans can change. When possible, we are happy to offer a credit or a transfer to a future event if we are able to fill your spot from our waitlist. Because our classes are small and ingredient-driven, this is not guaranteed and depends on demand and timing. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event are not eligible for credit or transfer, as we are typically unable to fill those spots on short notice.
