The Polish Bakery

Duration: 3½ hoursType: In-PersonPrice: $140

Polish desserts rarely get the spotlight at your neighborhood bakery, but Marianna Stepniewski wants to change all that. In the fall, the plums and apples are abundant in Poland and the bakeries get to work creating some of the most beautiful pastries in Central Europe, bringing people together for warm bread, pastries, and hot cups of tea. In this class you’ll learn foundational skills like making choux dough, tender shortcrust, fruit butter, and pastry cream as you whip up karpatka (Carpathian cream cake with vanilla cardamom crème mousseline and roasted apples); mazurek (shortcrust tart with plum butter and poppyseed); and Polish knyzsz (knish with caramelized fennel, apples, and farmer's cheese).

Please note: some classes can be adjusted for students with dietary restrictions, but many cannot. If a class you’re interested in doesn’t appear in that filtered view, please email us before registering and we’ll see if the class’s menu can be modified.

Cancellation Policy

All class and event purchases at The Pantry are non-refundable. If you’re unable to attend, you are always welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend or family member.

We understand that plans can change. When possible, we are happy to offer a credit or a transfer to a future event if we are able to fill your spot from our waitlist. Because our classes are small and ingredient-driven, this is not guaranteed and depends on demand and timing. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event are not eligible for credit or transfer, as we are typically unable to fill those spots on short notice.
