Spring in Sri Lanka

Duration: 3½ hoursType: In-PersonPrice: $140

With hospitality at its core, Sri Lankans embrace the concept of “the guest is God” across the island. Ensuring that their guests feel welcome, comfortable, and valued, hosts are seen offering welcoming cups of tea before serving lavish meals. In this class, Vindi Rathnayake will share some of her favorite dishes for treating her guests and you’ll make kaha bath (yellow rice with warm spices); fish and potato croquettes; kaju maaluwa (cashew coconut milk curry); batu moju (deep-fried eggplant in a vinegar sauce); ala thel daala (devilled potatoes); cucumber salad; and papadam from scratch!

Please note: some classes can be adjusted for students with dietary restrictions, but many cannot. If you’re vegetarian, pescatarian, or gluten-free, you can use the drop-down menu on our events page to view the best classes to fit your needs. If a class you’re interested in doesn’t appear in that filtered view, please email us before registering and we’ll see if the class’s menu can be modified.

Cancellation Policy

All class and event purchases at The Pantry are non-refundable. If you’re unable to attend, you are always welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend or family member.

We understand that plans can change. When possible, we are happy to offer a credit or a transfer to a future event if we are able to fill your spot from our waitlist. Because our classes are small and ingredient-driven, this is not guaranteed and depends on demand and timing. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event are not eligible for credit or transfer, as we are typically unable to fill those spots on short notice.
