The holidays are a time for traditions, and for people around the world, that includes baked treats that have become a symbol of warmth and togetherness among friends and family. In Mexico, the craft of making holiday pastries continues to be passed down through generations, serving as a testament to their dedication to preserving its gastronomic identity. Whether enjoyed with a cup of rich Mexican hot chocolate or as a sweet ending to a hearty meal, these traditional Mexican sweets continue to carry a unique history and regional variation. Join Andrea Pons in class where you’ll learn how to make soft and chewy puerquitos, also known as marranitos (pig-shaped gingerbread); churros con cajeta (rich piped doughnuts enjoyed with goat milk caramel); chocolate tamales with hot honey; and cuernitos (pecan cookies dipped in dark chocolate).
Please note: some classes can be adjusted for students with dietary restrictions, but many cannot. If you’re vegetarian, pescatarian, or gluten-free, you can use the drop-down menu on our events page to view the best classes to fit your needs. If a class you’re interested in doesn’t appear in that filtered view, please email us before registering and we’ll see if the class’s menu can be modified.
All class and event purchases at The Pantry are non-refundable. If you’re unable to attend, you are always welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend or family member.
We understand that plans can change. When possible, we are happy to offer a credit or a transfer to a future event if we are able to fill your spot from our waitlist. Because our classes are small and ingredient-driven, this is not guaranteed and depends on demand and timing. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event are not eligible for credit or transfer, as we are typically unable to fill those spots on short notice.
