“Warung” encapsulates a whole world of small, family run businesses and eateries that can be found anywhere from someone’s front porch to back alleyways. While not listed in tourist guides or internet searches, these humble shops are integral to Indonesian culture. Join Rasyidah Rosli and learn how to prepare some of her favorite street food dishes from her childhood. You’ll make gado gado (fried tofu with vegetables, peanut sauce, and fried shrimp chips); nasi goreng kampung (fried rice with with gai lan, eggs, crispy anchovies, and chicken); terung belado (steamed eggplant with spicy sambal); and perkedel kentang and daging (beef and potato fritters with Chinese celery).
Please note: some classes can be adjusted for students with dietary restrictions, but many cannot. If you’re vegetarian, pescatarian, or gluten-free, you can use the drop-down menu on our events page to view the best classes to fit your needs. If a class you’re interested in doesn’t appear in that filtered view, please email us before registering and we’ll see if the class’s menu can be modified.
All class and event purchases at The Pantry are non-refundable. If you’re unable to attend, you are always welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend or family member.
We understand that plans can change. When possible, we are happy to offer a credit or a transfer to a future event if we are able to fill your spot from our waitlist. Because our classes are small and ingredient-driven, this is not guaranteed and depends on demand and timing. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event are not eligible for credit or transfer, as we are typically unable to fill those spots on short notice.
