What the world needs is more pie and Vindi Rathnayake will teach you how to make it happen. This in-depth and intensive workshop will explore the steps of pie making highlighting the produce of autumn, what we like to think of as the unofficial pie season. With a smaller class size that allows for one on one attention, you’ll learn techniques for achieving flakey dough, rolling and shaping crusts, proper baking and troubleshooting common pie problems. The menu will include caramel pumpkin pie, brown butter maple pecan pie; and pear and vanilla bean pie with ginger streusel. A light fall meal will be served, leaving room for all that yummy dessert, and each student will leave with a whole pie to bake at home or put in the freezer for a later date!
Please note: some classes can be adjusted for students with dietary restrictions, but many cannot. If you’re vegetarian, pescatarian, or gluten-free, you can use the drop-down menu on our events page to view the best classes to fit your needs. If a class you’re interested in doesn’t appear in that filtered view, please email us before registering and we’ll see if the class’s menu can be modified.
All class and event purchases at The Pantry are non-refundable. If you’re unable to attend, you are always welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend or family member.
We understand that plans can change. When possible, we are happy to offer a credit or a transfer to a future event if we are able to fill your spot from our waitlist. Because our classes are small and ingredient-driven, this is not guaranteed and depends on demand and timing. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event are not eligible for credit or transfer, as we are typically unable to fill those spots on short notice.
