The Mexican state of Veracruz has gifted the world so many delicacies – jalapenos, vanilla, and the song “La Bamba”. Serving as the largest port in the Americas during colonial times meant that ingredients from Africa, Europe, and South America were frequently passing though and leaving their mark on the local cuisine. Join Gino Garcia for a deep look into delicious dishes Veracruz has to offer. On the menu: asado de puerco estilo Veracruz (banana leaf-roasted pork in smoky chile adobo); chiles rellenos con minilla (shrimp-stuffed jalapeno chiles); arroz con plátanos (rice with fried plantains and cream); and frijoles negros con hoja santa (black beans cooked with holy leaf).
Please note: some classes can be adjusted for students with dietary restrictions, but many cannot. If you’re vegetarian, pescatarian, or gluten-free, you can use the drop-down menu on our events page to view the best classes to fit your needs. If a class you’re interested in doesn’t appear in that filtered view, please email us before registering and we’ll see if the class’s menu can be modified.
All class and event purchases at The Pantry are non-refundable. If you’re unable to attend, you are always welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend or family member.
We understand that plans can change. When possible, we are happy to offer a credit or a transfer to a future event if we are able to fill your spot from our waitlist. Because our classes are small and ingredient-driven, this is not guaranteed and depends on demand and timing. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event are not eligible for credit or transfer, as we are typically unable to fill those spots on short notice.
