Beer Tasting 101

Duration: 2½ hoursType: In-PersonPrice: $100

We can learn so much about our biases when we don’t know what we’re drinking. When we remove the sense of sight when judging a beer, we open the door to honing our other senses and true discovery and fun begins! Join Shawna Cormier and challenge your senses in this class focused on the principle of blind tasting. In this class you’ll learn how to assess a beer’s intensity, aroma, and flavor, while developing your skills for identifying specific aromatic compounds, and understanding how they’re created. Throughout the evening you’ll sample a variety of beers and learn tasting techniques such as the role of retro-nasal olfactory in tasting, the difference between aroma and taste, and everything that flavors covers: appearance, aroma, taste, and mouthfeel.

Please note: some classes can be adjusted for students with dietary restrictions, but many cannot. If you’re vegetarian, pescatarian, or gluten-free, you can use the drop-down menu on our events page to view the best classes to fit your needs. If a class you’re interested in doesn’t appear in that filtered view, please email us before registering and we’ll see if the class’s menu can be modified.
