In an effort to fundraise money for humanitarian aid in Ukraine and to share the region’s beautiful food heritage, please join local author and cooking instructor Polina Chesnakova for a virtual cooking class on Varenyky – a staple dumpling of Ukrainian cuisine that can be made sweet or savory. All of the purchase price of each ticket will be donated to Union of Help to Kherson in support of their efforts to provide relief to the Russian-occupied region of Kherson.
In this live, hands-on 1 ½ hour cooking class, you will learn how to mix, shape, and fill dough for herbed potato and mushroom varenyky and farmer’s cheese varenyky with sour cherry compote. Polina, who has family in Ukraine and holds this cause especially close to her heart, will make sure there will be plenty of time for questions and conversation. Class is meant to be as interactive as it would be at our table, with the instructor teaching you how to prepare each recipe. Each class ticket is for one kitchen, and we welcome group cooking on the same screen. We will email the ingredients list 1 week before class. To learn more about how class will go, visit our FAQ page.
We are not offering ingredient kits for this class. Five days before class we will email you a detailed recipe packet and Zoom link. All classes are listed in Pacific Time.
