June 13 – Preservation Kitchen: Summer Berry Jams

There’s something truly special about berry season in the Pacific Northwest. Whether you’ve turned your yard into your own berry patch, you hunt through the farmers market for the perfect pints, or you love spending a weekend at the nearest you-pick, jam is the best way to stretch summer out as long as possible. So join Renee Beaudoin as she teaches you how to turn your summer berry harvest into homemade jam! You’ll learn about flavor customization, the role of sugar, the stages of jam cooking, and how to test your jam for doneness. In class we will be making batches of classic strawberry jam and summer brambleberry jam. For those who have always been curious to try or at least see the water bath canning method, you will have an opportunity to do so in class!

This is a live, hands-on cooking class held in your kitchen via Zoom. Class is meant to be as interactive as it would be at our table, with the instructor teaching you how to prepare each recipe. There are two options for gathering ingredients for this class! You can shop for your own ingredients or we are happy to pre-measure ingredients and assemble them into a 4-serving kit. And if you like to sip wine while you cook, consider adding a lovingly paired bottle with your kit!
