Born in Canada to Pakistani immigrant parents, Hina Mughal speaks Urdu, Punjabi, English, French, and Spanish, sometimes all at once. She spent part of her childhood in Lahore, Pakistan, absorbing the bold flavors of Punjab. Her love of Latin American food and culture eventually took her to Mexico City, and she spent three years teaching language and learning about food in rural towns and villages all over the country, from Nuevo León to Oaxaca to Yucatán. Hina is obsessive about collecting spices from all around the world, but she’s most passionate about sharing Pakistani culture through the medium of food — and that’s what she does for us at the Pantry.
