We all know there is no one 'Jewish food' - it, like most, is a complex cuisine that has been shaped not only by religious influence, but by cultural diaspora and a long, complex history. In this class taught by Arianna Garella, you'll learn about the relationship between food and Jewish tradition by learning to make some of her family’s tried and true recipes: classic matzoh ball soup and spiced beef brisket with dried plums and grilled tangerines. You'll make beet, carrot, and prune tzimes as well as a spinach salad with honey cashews, apples, and pomegranate vinaigrette. It wouldn't be a Rosh Hashana table without honey cake, so you'll whip up a variation of the classic: honey cardamom cake with poached pears.
