Fortunately for us, Myanmar's 50 year long isolation did nothing to harm its cuisine. While Burmese food varies greatly region to region, from top to bottom the Burmese share a love for bold savory and sour flavors, and an unprecedented appreciation of side dishes. In this Class, Michelle Nguyen will introduce you to this wholly under-appreciated cuisine. Together you'll make Burmese-style coconut curry with homemade noodles, mushrooms, and crispy shallot and dried shrimp relish; gyin thoke (crunchy cabbage-ginger salad with roasted peanuts and lime dressing); eggplant-tomato curry; and turmeric-spiced chicken with chili-garlic sauce.
