Flavors of West Africa: Nkatenkwan and Fufu

Duration: 3 hoursType: In-PersonPrice: $135

In Ghana fufu or fufuo, as pronounced in Twi, is one of the most important staples that can be eaten every day. The sound of pounding starchy tubers to make fufu has its own word, topam, so ubiquitous there are poems written about it. Making fufu is a labor of love and group affair so join us in class and Tina Fahnbulleh will teach you how to make your own with your new friends around the table! In class you’ll also make nkatenkwan (chicken and peanut soup); seasoned with okra, as well as smoked and broiled mackerel to eat all together with your fresh fufu. You’ll then gather at the table with Tina to play traditional Ghanaian games, sharing in one of her favorite pastimes!
