From childhood, Arianna Garella always loved to eat — beginning with her parents’ refusal to feed her baby food. She started cooking before she was tall enough to reach the stovetop, but it wasn’t until she took a semester away from Lewis & Clark College that she realized she could dedicate her life to it. A summer spent living in the Italian Alps introduced her to butchery, cheesemaking, and farming, and in 2011 she found herself packing up and moving to Northern Italy to study at the Universita degli Studi di Scienze Gastronomiche, the center of the “Slow Food” movement. After nearly four years in Italy, Arianna is back in Seattle, equipped with a thorough understanding of the food system and food sustainability, and eager to share her knowledge and passion for food. At the Pantry, Arianna teaches classes for both adults and kids, and is the coordinator for our kids culinary camp.
